Nearly there, still some bits and pieces to put back, but the guts of it are all back, including my machines woo hoo - I'm sorta a bit lost without them.

The shelving was all built from mdf by Shane and his Dad to specifications by me to fit certain things. Rolls of fabric, nappy cuts, magazines etc. Some of the shelving you've seen before as it's been up for awhile. So the nappy cut holder and the cutting bench were built this time.

The flooring was reclaimed from the Gap Storms in 2008, so whilst it's not perfect and bit scratched and dented, it's a vast improvement on a concrete floor and I feel better for not adding to landfill.

Paint is Sea Angel.

Still of course things to add, some photos of my gorgeous cherubs. Some bins for rubbish as we've moved everything about and there aren't enough. More containers for threads etc and some touches of me.

I've already found a sacred bamboo and I'll hopefully another couple, I love how they look.

That's what my sewing room is, and I feel pretty lost without her.

I'm sure it will be worth it - new floor, instead of cement

I can't wait to show you. She's been painted in Sea Angel, it's a lovely colour and a lovely name.

We had some delays to start, so it's only been started this week.
Next stocking for CK will be at Gossamer Dreams on there 15th. Stock should start to appear in store about a week to 10 days after that.

Wow I'm a bit behind in blog posts.

Anyways Belated Happy New Year.

Cherub's Kiss is closed now until the 14th February, I have a handful more of customs I'm still working on which will be all out this week, cause next week, the sewing room is being dismantled to be fully renovated into a full home work studio. There will be wooden floors and bliss a ceiling, more lights, more shelves and a new cutting table with storage. A smaller desk and just a revamp of space.

Why.... so that the Mr Cherub and I can work in harmony and bring you lots more CK goodies.

I'll be keeping you updated with blog photos. I'm really not looking forward to pulling everything out and then putting everything back but it will be tidy and organised right? Well that's the plan. All teenagers will be put to work next weekend to start the dismantle and come Monday after we drop the small cherubs to school, it will be all hands on deck. I can't wait to show you the finished room.

And of course lots of goodies have been finished lately.

This little set has gone to it's new home, just waiting for the wee babe that it's for to grow a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger and drinking up all her milk and she'll be wearing it home to her mama, dada and all her gorgeous siblings.

It's a hand smocked 100% cotton voile gown with French Val Laces and hand embroidery.

It's teamed with two size 0 nappies, with an extra set of snaps.

Christmas sewing

Just some of the Christmas sewing I've done.

Sew Serendipity Lunch Pail Bag, but I converted it to a Project Bag. Bright and funky black and rainbow colours. It's a lovely bag, and I don't think I'd change anything on it.

For my gorgeous niece. Garden Wristlet by Keyka Lou - I love this pattern, so good for

little gifts for tweens.

Of course this one had to have a CK snap, this little doodad will hold your keys.

Noodlehead 241 Tote. I didn't have enough of the focus fabric, that i just had to use for this mama, so I improvised on the reverse side and made it a feature.

And this is the front, I love the fabric colours, I really, really wanted to keep it lol!!

Well ladies, I'm signing off for a couple of days to get ready for Christmas and take a breather, this week has been pretty busy lol!!

The Cherub's wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and peaceful New Year. We'd also like to thank you for all your wonderful support throughout the year. We will be taking a break towards the end of January, to revamp the sewing studio and have a bit of down time, but will be back bigger and better than ever, with lots more gorgeous stock on a more regular basis and more of the next day turn around customs as well. Who could ask for more?

But of course what would the Boxing Day Sales be without a bit of fun, so we'll see you then :)

Camp Autism Charity Auction

The lovely Shona from Funky Fabrix, has organised a charity auction raising funds for Camp Autism.

Margo from The Climbing Tree found me some lovely jigsaw print fabric, which is one of the symbols of autism awareness, so together we made a stunning OOAK set. We hope the set is unisex enough for either your little girl or little boy.

This is a Kissing Tree set.

The set is a size 2 tshirt in red, yellow, emerald with a cute appliqué on the bottom front left of the tshirt. The tshirt is made from the Imke pattern from SCKL. RRP is $26.

The nappy is a size 2 Auriel AI2. The outer back is pieced together minky, in red, cobalt, yellow, emerald, aqua and lime. Appliqued together and stitched with black to represent the jigsaw puzzle. The front is pieced cobalt, red and emerald with the jigsaw fabric appliquéd onto the front. Inner if royal blue micro fleece.

Remembering Avery

A very dear friend recently gave birth to her darling Son Avery who was born still.

She has decided to raise funds for a much needed service called Heartfelt. This service is provided to those family in need at such a sad time of their lives for a very small cost. They would have to be the most compassionate and understanding people in the world, to do what they do.

I have contributed in a very small way and these are some of the articles that are up for auction at Remembering Avery


These items were all hand dyed in shades of lime, turquoise, green and blue to capture an ocean theme. There is a size newborn Farbenmix set with an OBV top and pants in french terry, both lush and divine, and squishy. A size 1 Auriel and a small HoneyBoy! in Bamboo Terry hand dyed with a OBV inner and an applique of a seahorse.

You can find Kristie's journey at Hesperas Garden She is the most amazingly beautiful, wonderful, strong woman, who is sharing her heart breaking story with us all. I am blessed to be her friend.

Well my gorgeous Angel's baby is starting to come up to his/her date for arrival, so we are going to have a little guessing game.

What do you win - 1 custom item - yes that's right you get to choose whatever up to the value of $65 - postage is at your expense. So you could choose a nappy, a dress, shorts and top, whatever I make. Chance plays no part in this giveaway and it's totally based on when bubba arrives. Now some background - Angel's first bubba arrived at 35+2 and bubba no 2 arrived at 41 weeks, so you have a nice spread of arrival time. Sneaky Smurfs

Well we had a sneaky smurf stocking over at Gossamer Dreams last night, lots of work, but also lots of fun. Here are some of the goodies that I put up for sale!

For Christmas in July *cough* June right???

And these gorgeous prints arrived this week and so I just couldn't help myself, I made some of them up. The cold and dreary has not helped the inspiration strike, but today was sunny and bright and perfect for some cheer.

These naps are going up in the store shortly - I know that lots of people celebrate Christmas in July and what fun with these prints. If you purchase immediately with DD, I will pop in your parcel a matching tshirt at no extra cost.

And a surprise bonus!! Two of the naps are a pre-release of the CK Pocket. Same awesome fits, same wonderful attention to detail as you've come to expect from CK products. It's a front opening pocket, so no little suprises hiding in there (unless you count little people popping toys, keys or food for later in there) Plenty of room for those with larger hands or Dads, it's been Dad tested to stuff. Comes with a 12 x 12 bamboo/cotton fleece trifold, sewn down in thirds to stop that annoying shifting and moving, with fleece side in. My testers have given them the thumbs up so I hope you do too.

My pockets are due for full release come July, so if you want a peek before hand, just keep an eye out on the FB page for some early and very limited early releases.

This one is soooo sweet, I love it - classic, tasteful, soft and sweet, pale pink minky with a ruched front, and just a touch of ribbon.

Well I've been decidedly under the weather for the last week, very very tired of it, I can tell you - I don't get sick often but obviously my body had had enough and I went down for the count. I've shared it with my darling, mind you the small ones gave it to me first lol! We also had the littlest cherub screaming in the agony of an ear infection, but we all seem to be on the mend.

I'm a wee bit behind with customs, but they should still hit your mailboxes in the allotted time. Thank you for everyone patience, it really does make a difference.

You can as always see where your custom is at on the left of screen, they are worked from bottom to top in order of payment.

We've also started on the newsletter subscriber wait list spots, more emails to those ladies will be going out next week.

And last but not least the Heaven Sent nappies - I've just received more gorgeous cuts from the wonderful Chris at Baby Bullfrogs. These will be the last for a few weeks as I catch up on everything else and the HoneyBoy! will be the only ones at the moment as I need to source more white fleece, who would have thunk I would run out (not me if you saw my fabric stash)

Size 3 and pocket testing is well under way and so far the testers are ecstatic. Final testing should be taking place in the near future and I'm hoping to release both come July.

From this week's stocking on Sunday! Yes I'm speeding through them!

Something bright, funky and retro was the request, I was worried the mama would find it a bit wild, but the mama loves it!

Lime, purple and black minky with appliqued shapes from a gorgeous print I've been dying to use. Inner of lime microfleece.

Aqua minky with ladybugs!

Lavender princess/fairy - I really love this print, goes fantastically with purples and pinks.

I love mermaids, and I have a few prints, but I try not to use the same prints for Splitsies, so I've used a different one for this one. Aqua minky, mermaid print.

And the gorgeous mermaid on the back, hand drawn to match the fabric print. Hand dyed cord for the tail, with some hand embrodiered scales in hand dyed cotton. Lush chocolate minky hair, OBV body, some hand dyed bits to cover the important bits, hand embroidered eyes and lips! She turned our beautifully, hope the new owner loves her!

St Patrick's Day Giveaway

As I sent my little leprechaun off to school today - with his lovely little scout made hat and uber excited as there was a Meal Deal on - I also sent the little miss in hot pink, as she refused both the green and thought her brother looked weird. I in my sore back induced daze wore blue, what was I thinking, I love green!!

Super girly to boyish to funky, well that's what I've been working on, when I haven't been laid up. Things have been pretty slow going in the Cherub house unfortunately.

I thank these wonderful mama's for their patience and I hope they like their new additions.

From the Japanese themed semi-custom slot from Gossamer Dreams

The brief, girly and pretty and pink - well only one is pink, but I personally love the lavender one.

The pink one has a little Geisha and some frills on the back - if you look closely you'll see a wee bit of hand embroidery on the Geisha! Pop in a little bit of rick rack and smidgin of red and voila! Super girly and pink :)

Then with fabric supplied by this lovely, lovely customer, a boyish vroom, vroom racing car along with some funky stripes.

And for the same customer a full on Dr S Splitsie, 3 different coloured minky's, and wacky Cat applique on the back! Again with stripes. I really enjoyed making this one and whilst you won't see another one exactly the same, I still have a few more Dr S up my sleeve.

Flood Fundraising from Gossamer Dreams

Just a scan of the donation - this was money from Cherub's Kiss auctions and Outrageous! jewellery from the Gossamer Dreams Stocking on the 15th January.

Thank you to everyone that purchased or bid to raise this awesome amount.

We deposited it to the Salvation Army Flood Appeal through Woolworths as they were matching dollar for dollar the funds donated, which means twice as much to those that will need it the most in the coming weeks and months.

I've personally found it very hard this week to even get motivated. My darling DH works in television and he's been doing extremely long shifts so we've not seem him very much and he's doing 7 days straight. I don't know how he can stand to watch all the devastation, I've switched off the telly. But all the cherubs are sending thoughts and prayers for anyone that is affected by the floods and bushfires in anyone in Australia and also those in Brazil.

But for the vast majority - 2011 hasn't started well with alot of towns having either cleaning up from major floods, or still bracing for the peaks to hit.

My family are in Rockhampton which to all intents and purposes is now cut off, whilst my sister is high on the range, water is starting to lap in and around my Mum's house. We were up there for Christmas and the water had started to recede some when we arrived but the time we left was higher than ever and still rising. There are alot of people in need all over Queensland so I'm going to try and do my bit by fundraising through auctions etc via Possum Pouches.

There is already an auction up donated by Kylie from EarthChild/Little Zen - it's a gorgeous rainbow coloured set.

I've decided to kick things off with a rainbow minky coloured AIO, we need a bit of sunshine and rainbows in Queensland at the moment and what better way to start things off.

I'm open to suggestions as to how else you'd like me to help raising funds?

Possum magic lol!! For a sweet little girls 2nd birthday.

Said little girl is otherwise known at MissMagic or possum and so when the fabrics arrived, there were a few to choose from, I knew what I wanted to do, but it took me a little while to work out how I wanted to do it.

And then inspiration strikes and away we go. The back applique consists of a possum taken from the fabric, and hand embroidered to give it depth and life.

Hand drawn branches and gum leaves in various fabrics and colourways, and then some gum blossoms in various shades of yellow and orange, probably not strictly a literal interpretation but creative licence :)

The front is pieced together denim, olive mottled minky and the same print, again with applique and hand embroidery.

And you can't have a special nappy without a special dress, so I've used Ava from Modkid to create this little halter, it's too hot in Queensland already for sleeves :)

you just take photos are they are just blah!! But today that isn't the case. I was chuffed with the way these turned out in the dye vat, but all made up into squishy bamboo raphs in a size small for an expectant mumma, I'm absolutely rapped!!!

The photos are just perfect I think, so I had to splurge on a blog post and post all the piccies! They are too gorgeous not to share. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Brisbane, but absolutely freezing cold at the same time, but these nappies are just so bright and gorgeous and you all know that yellow and orange aren't my favourites.

Glee is a favourite in this house and I've been listening to the soundtrack all week and I love the song To Sir with Love, so when this fabric and idea jumped out at me as they tend to do at weird times and usually when I'm already overflowing with thoughts and inspiration I had to down everything and get this finished!!

I am absolutely stoked at how it turned out - I hope you love it too.

It's such a busy print, and very boyish to my mind, so I wanted sleek and clean looking lines. The little pocket on the back is not just a decoration, but works as a pocket, it's going to it's new home, with a chocolately surprise inside!

This one took me some time, when fabrics arrive from customer they sit on my sewing table until inspiration strikes, sometimes it strikes immediately and sometimes it takes a few days. This was one of those, but I think you'll agree that when the mood struck it was worth the wait.

A very busy print, with dragons, ballons, ships and buildings and I made the most of the waves, lots of minky colours to represent the waves and positioning the boat so it looks like it sailing across the ocean.

You sew through your finger sigh! I've only done it once before and that was this year too, but this time it's worse. I thought I could keep sewing but it appears not. I never realised that I use my middle finger for so much sewing work, but there you have it I do. So no more sewing for me today - I tried to solider through but that just ended up in an oopsie sigh!

Well it appears that not everyone is getting my newsletter darn it all - I've put in a support ticket to my provider but I'm not holding my breath. Might have to change to a new program.

But for those that missed it, here you go.

Well it's a cold and gloomy day here in Brisbane but the Cherub's are working hard to get through our long list of semi-customs and working on some instocks.

School holidays are about to start here in Queensland so stock will be limited whilst the Cherubs have some famiy time. Shane for once has some holidays during school holidays and we have some family outings planned. Again just check my blog or Facebook Page for updates.

Made with the awesome Saffron Craig range of fabrics, this is one gorgeous nappy.

The front is made from Huckleberry Minky - so sad this colour has been discontinued it was one of my favs and now I have barely any left at all :( And two of the prints from the Forest Elements range.

And the back, machine appliqued by hand with a funky varigated cotton and birds on birds satin stitched on - it's such a large stunning print, that it didn't need much in the way of extras to make it stand out from the crowd.

My life before nappies

Was smocking and heirloom sewing and although it still is to a degree. I still do some sewing and I still design on a semi-regular basis. But the teaching of smocking has taken a backseat for at least the next couple of years.

Australian Smocking and Embroidery Issue 91 is due to hit the stands I believe in early June, and here is my contribution.

Pink and girly was the brief for these hand dyed raphaels - and I think I got it spot on - the photos really don't do the marbled dyeing justice, but I hope you get the idea.

They are all bamboo velour dyed in shades of Rosebud, Fuschia, Hot Pink, Amythest and Pumpkin. 3 Marbled ones and 3 in various ways of dyeing. All overlocked with pink maxilock swirls.

Well now she looks like this and she's being supremely cheeky - I've had this Tikki Rainbow Dress made for nearly 2 weeks but until today she refused to put it on - as I was making it she was - is it finished, is that mine, is it done. Then it was done and she didn't want to put it on lol!! But she did today - I think Daddy might have had something to do with that. I find so little time to make for my cherubs at the moment, so knitting - and I'm only a beginner, I think this makes project no. 5 - I can do at night (when I can't see to sew) and I'm home alone with the littlies. William has reqested a vest, so after I finish what I'm working on now, shhhh! I can't tell you what it is, the mama might be listening :) He's next in the queue.

Anyways back to Rainbow Dress - the colours are just divine and I'm obviously a slack knitter but I think it might have come from Elissa and Kris. I used 200g of it eek! Cause the last Rainbow I made was too short, and the plain purple is from Tangled Yarns. Sacrilage that I don't knit a test square, oops, but if I did that, nothing would get made - Tikki is you are reading, just ignore that bit lol! Anyways I knitted up the size 3 with lots of added length, I basically just kept knitting till I ran out of wool.

So yes she's gone from super dark dead straight hair to very blonde and wavy, with some little curls and it's finally growing back after the mass haircut via her brother last year.

Okay so here they are.

Kylie's brief was super girly and pink! I think it qualifies, I had so much fun making this one - I love pink and pistachio, so clean and fresh but still oh so girly.

The frills are just frilly beyond belief and it's a lush pale pink inner as well. Just divine.

And here are Lisa's - Lisa sent her own fabric, a fav of mine too, it's Saffron Craig's Tulip Fairy - In a Splitsie (I really must think of a name lol) and a all cotton front with denim back.

All so incredibly girly. I hope you like them :)

Baby Stocking

Woo hoo, I thought they were going to be late going out, but by a miracle, they have all gone today - bar those waiting on other things.

Next stocking will be next weekend - focusing on little bubbas, so Auriel's in size 0/1, HoneyBoy! in newborn and small - yes I know it's been ages, but these aplix naps are awesome for little wrigglers with those lovely rolled in legs to keep in the pooplosions!! Some raphaels, wipes and wetbags. I'll preview starting on the 1st and the time and date will be on the items for sale.

Randomness!

Yes that's what's happening today - total randomness. Nappies going up at random, no rhyme no reason, I know, I know it can be annoying, but please don't sit refreshing all day - just take a chance that the universe will provide. I hope to have about 20 nappies up - most will be pre-orders, but they be out in the post by the end of next week. Some will be made up, details will be in the listing.

The ones previewing at the moment are mostly decidely girly but boyish ones are coming.
